The Plan | Uniform 23

Matthew didn’t know who to trust. Altair had been the person to open his eyes to the governments oppression of the 1-stars and now Altair was working with the government. Each person that Matthew spoke to could be another government spy and Matthew had no way of knowing where each person’s loyalty was with certainty. The few people that he spoke to was his council, made up of seven 1-stars hand-picked by Kiara. If nothing else, he trusted her to know who he could trust. Even so, he was wary of the information he shared with them.

The distrust he showed the 1-stars was detrimental to the revolution and many raids in the past few days had been unsuccessful as a result. When information reached Matthew, he was reluctant to share it with his council. Each time he decided to include someone else in his planning he remembered seeing Kiara being led out of the granary by soldiers, Altair close behind. Matthew knew that he needed to trust his advisors or the revolution would fail. Reluctantly, he called a council meeting.

When Matthew walked into the makeshift meeting room he saw his council sitting around a table on mismatched and worn-out chairs. They each wore matching expressions: a mixture of trepidation and hope. They wondered if Matthew would finally heed their council. Matthew say in the empty chair at the head of the table and looked at each councilmember’s face. A thick silence stretched across the room as the council waited with bated breath for Matthew to speak.

“The last few days have dealt powerful blows against our people and our cause. We are losing too much by raiding and attacking insignificant government buildings. It’s time to increase our resistance. Make sure that people around the nation know of the revolution. We are going to need as much support as possible if this is going to work.”

“I’m sorry Matthew, but I’m not sure I understand, what is it you are planning to do?

“We are going to kill president Payne.”

So they are planning to assassinate the president! How do they plan on doing this? What is happening with Kiara at the moment and will she escape captivity somehow? So this story gets longer and more elaborate the more I think about it and I’m not sure when it will end anymore… but I hope that you’re all enjoying it! If you haven’t then follow the blog to get update notifications! Next post will be up tomorrow!

Interrogation | Uniform 22

Kiara woke up handcuffed to a metal desk in a cold, grey room. She looked around and saw two small cameras in opposite corners of the room and was surprised to see that there was no door anywhere in sight. She wondered how they had brought her in. One wall seemed to be made of an opaque glass and Kiara guessed that people were watching her from the other side of it. She steeled her jaw and stared at the glass, resolute and unwavering. A minute or so later, a part of the wall retracted before sliding to the side. Kiara turned from the glass wall to see a woman walk into the room. The woman sat in front of Kiara on a chair on the opposite side of the table.

“Kiara Westwood, second in command to Matthew Sinclair, resident medic at 1-star facility 2, ex-heart-surgeon at Pinecrest hospital. It says here you were on your way to becoming the leading heart-surgeon in the country but were excommunicated due to complications.” The smirk on her face when she drawled the word excommunicated showed Kiara that contrary to her tired tone, the lady enjoyed Kiara’s suffering.

“Our file on you has grown considerably large during your sedation the past few days. I must say when I first heard that you were taken in place of mister Sinclair I was quite angry. Over the past 48 hours however, I have grown positively elated. We have sent new spies to infiltrate your hopeless revolution and it seems that without you, mister Sinclair has no idea how to control the 1-stars. Failed raids have led to the incarceration of over 40 1-stars yesterday alone.” The ladies voice grew positively gleeful by the end of her explanation. Kiara refused to believe the ladies words but a part of her knew how large a part she had played in planning the raids and feared that there might be some truth to the ladies’ words. She knew however, that if there were any truth to the slanderous words, Matthew would soon overcome them and the revolution would once again be in full effect.

Hey! So this post took a little longer to post because I was planning the rest of the story after changing it. I’ve planned most of it by now and the rest of the uploads should go up on schedule! What do you guys think? Is Kiara’s interrogator telling the truth about Matthew? Hope you enjoyed this instalment in Uniform and come back tomorrow to read the next part!

Q and A With Me!

So yesterday I asked my Instagram followers to send me questions about myself and anything specific they wanted to know. Anyways, here are my answers to some of the questions…

I love your hair haha! 😂😊😉 I wanted to ask you: Why are you in London? How did you get to know beautiful Lottie? 🤗Thank you, thank you! I’m in London now to study at university (though that could just be a cover so that I can stay in London and go to the West End…). I’m studying a course called ‘Cultural & Creative Industries’ at City, University of London. And I met Lottie at a musical theatre class/group that we go to on Sunday’s. Our first day together was actually pretty great! We went to theatre café with another friend (Rhiannon) and when she had to leave Lottie and I went to China Town and stayed out until midnight before we finally decided to go home 😂😂

Is your hair natural?

Yes. Yes it is.

Who is the most amazing person you know?

Hmmm…

 Who took this amazing photo?

The incomparable Lottie!

Do you have a problem with people who don’t know grammar rules?

😂 I don’t have a problem with people not knowing grammar rules as much as people posting things that are clearly not edited…

What do I do with my vouchers after 7pm? 😭😭

You can come in the next day and they will still be valid! I think…! Also, “this is not the theatre… It’s just a café where you can get coffee…”

What’s your favourite musical?

Wicked! Although The Lion King probably has the best opening number I’ve ever seen.

Did you just recently move to London like Lottie?

No I’ve been here for about a year now.

Where are you from?

I am Danish Colombian 🇩🇰🇨🇴

How many languages do you speak?

Four: Danish, English, Russian, Spanish

If you didn’t have to sleep what would you do with the extra time ?

This is going to sound boring but I’d read… I mean I already stay up until 5 am reading on a normal day so whats a few more hours. If I were more productive then maybe I’d learn a new language…

What’s your favorite book?

Ummmm… That’s a hard one… I really like Frankenstein (which we had to read in school and I enjoyed a lot… surprisingly), I love The Help, really enjoyed Divergent (the book not the series). I’ve probably missed a few but they’ll come up in posts at some point

What’s the most annoying question people ask you ? (Is it ‘can I touch your hair?’ (Sorry is this stereotypical lol))

😂 It’s actually ‘is your hair real/natural’ (Which was answered earlier).

What’s the best thing that happened to you last week ?

I met Kristin Chenoweth!!! That was incredible! She is so nice and made time to talk to everyone that came to see her and it was just amazing!

What question would you most like the answer to ?

Why did Molly Weasley decide that it was best to run through the barrier if you are scared…? What if someone was on the other side? Do wizards not mind being crashed into by an 11-year-old pushing a huge luggage cart?!?! Seriously… the whole slamming into the barrier situation in The Chamber of Secrets could have been avoided Harry and Ron had just walked calmly like normal people…

Sorry I’m very passionate about this scene…

Wait, you’re Danish? I thought you were Dutch…?

OMG 😂😂😂 So for those of you who don’t know my high school principal said that I was Dutch Colombian… At my graduation… When she was giving me my diploma… After 11 years studying there (she was there for the last six)… right after I had given a speech… While my family was watching (either in person or through live stream if they weren’t in the country)… We even have an annual parade where students walk with their country groups and wave flags and stuff and I always had to run to be Danish and Colombian 😂😂😂!!

What are you going as for Halloween this year?

That’s a surprise!

Who do you think will die in the next Jane the Virgin episode (S4E3)?

I wanna say Luisa…

Can Michael un-die already?

OMG Please!!!!! Do it narrator!!! You have the power!!!

What you like most for the breakfast?

Arepas!!!!!!!!! You have not lived until you have tried one!!!

Who is your fave Harry Potter character & which movie is your fave?

Probably Dobby or Hermione. Although I love book Luna and book Ginny (not that luna isn’t amazing in the movies but there’s so much more about her in the books).

My favourite movie is The Philosopher’s Stone because that’s when it all began.

Is there food that you don’t like at all?

I don’t like most cheeses… Unless they are melted. Then it’s different 😂

Why don’t you make a youtube cover/original songs channel?

Someday!

I think that’s all the questions… Anyways if you want to go to the original source of questions its here (Click on the word here…). Did any of the answers surprise you? Be sure to comment any more questions if  you have them and follow the blog for notifications on the next post!

The end with I’ll ask you guys a question:

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would buy?

Betrayal | Uniform 21

“Stop shooting.” Kiara told them as she picked up Paul’s gun and slotted it through the gap in the boxes. With a small push, she sent the gun across the floor towards the soldiers. Their second gun soon followed.

“Move the boxes.” The group looked at her strangely but followed her orders. She stepped between the boxes with her arms raised and spoke to the soldiers.

“My name is Kiara Westwood, I am the leader of this task force. You asked for Matthew, but he never joined us on this mission. He deemed it too dangerous with the recent rise in government security after our recent raids. Take me prisoner in his place if you wish, but spare my team.”

“Do you reckon she’s telling the truth?” One of the soldiers asked to the others. A wiry man stepped out from between them. Kiara recognised him as a 1-star who had recently joined the cause and was staying in their warehouse.

“She’s Matthew’s second in command. I doubt that they would both be on a mission, especially with the increased government security. I think she’s telling the truth, but she might be just as valuable to us as Matthew. She’s his link to the 1-stars. He doesn’t know enough about how they are run or how to control them without her.” Kiara ground her teeth with each piece of information the 1-star shared with the soldiers. When he finished a guard at the front signalled to her and three guards stepped up to restrain her. Kiara followed them, calm and unresisting. When they were down the hall four gunshots sounded. Tears sprang into her eyes, but she didn’t turn. She didn’t look back. She knew her team was dead.

Matthew nearly broke down when he saw Kiara being led out. He had run from the window and hidden in a forested area by the granary, unable to leave his team and Kiara behind. He couldn’t escape without knowing his team’s fate. He watched as the soldiers poured out, hoping that the rest of his team would be with them. His hope was lost as the last soldier left the building. He watched the soldiers climb into their trucks and prepare to leave. Suddenly, his heart rate shot up and a silent gasp flew from his mouth when he saw someone who he recognised talking with the last group of soldiers. A single name left his lips.

“Altair?”

So what do you think about Altair’s return? Was anyone expecting that? What do you guys think will happen to Kiara now? Follow me to get notifications on the next posts and comment any thoughts or ideas regarding the story. I’d love to hear them!!!

A Lost Friend | Uniform 20

Kiara turned away from the window and called the others to her side.

“Matthew needs time if he’s going to escape the soldiers. Take the metal boxes against the wall there and build a barricade. Leave space for us to shoot through though.” The group sprang into action as Kiara continued thinking of a plan.

“Good, they know we are here but they might not know how many of us there are. When they come here do whatever it takes to make them think that there are many of us. I know we only have two guns but the rest of us can still help. Throw things, make noise, anything to slow them down.” The group settled in behind the makeshift barricade and collected any loose items to throw over the boxes. Moments later the footsteps of soldiers neared.

“It’s unlikely that we’ll get out of this unharmed, so I wanted to say that it has been an honour to work with you. Even though we might fall, our people will survive and the revolution will continue.” With grim expressions, the group turned to the approaching soldiers and lifted their weapons. Gunshots sounded moments later and two soldiers fell to the ground, dead. A yell was heard signalling their location and the Kiara knew that they wouldn’t have long before bullets from dozens of guns rained down on them.

The next wave of soldiers arrived, more prepared than the previous soldiers. Though the group continued shooting at the soldiers and throwing bricks, rocks, and even shoes at them the soldiers remained undeterred, waiting for the group to run out of ammunition. Occasionally the soldiers would shoot back at the group but most shots hit the boxes. Kiara knew that their luck was bound to run out though and was proven right when she heard a pained grunt beside her. She turned in time to see Paul fall onto the ground, his gun lying next to him, lifeless eyes staring at the ceiling. Kiara choked on a sob and looked at the remainder of her group.

So Matthew has been given a chance to escape but he’ll have to leave Kiara behind to do so. Will he leave or try to rescue them? Will Kiara and what remains of her team survive or will they join Paul in death? So I’ve been editing the second part of yesterday’s post and 300 turned to 700 words so I’ve split it again. A big reveal will happen in the next instalment so be sure to follow the blog to be notified when it’s up! Also, if you have any ideas for the story be sure to comment them! I will read them and try to incorporate them into the story!

Tears and Goodbyes | Uniform 19

Matthew rushed into a new room only to grow disappointed once more. The room seemed to serve as storage for some large machines but Matthew could not see how that would help them escape.

“Over here!” Matthew turned at the exclamation and ran towards the voice. He was the last to arrive and saw that the group was crowding around a window against the far wall.

“We could break the window and leave that way. The chances of us escaping without being spotted are slim though.” Matthew agreed with Kiara but couldn’t think of a better alternative. The grim expressions worn by his team showed that his sentiment was mirrored in each of their minds. Matthew knew that they were unlikely to escape but spoke up anyways.

“We’ll have to try. If we are quiet and fast enough then we might slip away. The night should provide enough cover if we are lucky.”

“No. If all of us try to run then the risk of being found increases. Matthew, you need to run. You are too valuable to the revolution and I’m not sure we could handle losing you. The rest of us are disposable. We can distract the soldiers long enough for you to escape.” Tears were building in Kiara’s and Matthew’s eyes by the end of her argument, neither ready to say goodbye.

“There has to be a better way! There must be something we’re missing!”

“You know there isn’t Matthew, and even if there was we don’t have time to figure it out anymore.”

“I won’t leave without you Kee!” Kiara smiled at the pet name and sighed, knowing that Matthew would not change his mind.

A small explosion shook the building as the main door was blown up. The pounding feet of the soldiers rushing into the building cut through the deafening silence that followed the explosion.

Knowing that their time was quickly running out, Kiara turned to Matthew and nodded, barely holding back tears.

“Alright, but hurry. I’ll be right behind you.” Matthew smiled at her and turned to the window. He took off his jacket and pressed it against the window to muffle the noise when Paul, one of their two lookouts, broke the glass with his gun. It was a big drop so instead of jumping, Matthew was lowered out of the window by Paul before dropping down the rest of the distance. When his feet landed on the ground he stepped back and looked up towards the window where Kiara stared back at him, tears flowing freely down her face.

“I’m sorry Matthew, but this is the best chance we have. Run! We’ll give you enough time to escape.”

Hey! I’ve followed your suggestions so now Matthew will escape! This post was actually twice as long because I got sucked into the new storyline I’m creating now and couldn’t stop writing. On the bright side it means that I’m ahead for tomorrow’s post and can assure you that it’s a good one!

Young Frankenstein | Review

The audience laughs uproariously, gasping for air as their limbs fly and they rock back and forth, shaking due to laboured breaths. Their actions are larger than life and the spectators revel in their freedom. Secure in their belief that no one can see them beneath the blanket of darkness. Hopeful, that others are as engaged as they are, and that their eyes are drawn more to the spectacle on stage than the spectacle beside them.

People usually don’t display their reactions as openly. Rarely will people allow others to see their true emotions, unfiltered and unplanned. Perhaps this is the true beauty of Theatre. In seeing actors be completely unbound in their actions, the audience can cast away their masks for a few hours and reveal flawed and imperfect people.

The evening began with a notification on a phone: ‘It’s your lucky day! Congratulations, you have won 2 lottery tickets to see today’s performance of Young Frankenstein.’ Though not a planned evening, it is one that promises a good time.

Sexual innuendos fly from the stage at a pace almost too fast to follow. Perhaps a tactic to keep the audience from questioning some of the darker jokes? Physical comedy ties each line together and jokes and comments are accentuated with a calculated caress of a prop or by striking a suggestive pose. Perhaps what keeps the audience so enraptured is the thrill of following the actors along this precipice of drowning virtue: balancing at the edge, one line away from falling over with a joke that can’t be taken back or ignored. Would the audience care though, or would it be passed off under the protection that art can bring?

‘Please Don’t Touch Me’ becomes a personal favourite and is received well as the audience cackle throughout the song. The glamour, grandiose movements, and gutsy humour delivered by the talented cast stun and amaze the viewers. The rest of the shows songs are met with the same rambunctious applause.

Suddenly the scene shifts to a Transylvanian backdrop with an over sexualized  germanic village girl guiding Doctor Frankenstein to his castle along with Igor: A hunchback providing timely comedic relief. The tone for the humour has been set and those who have not welcomed this silly, sexual, and sometimes shocking humour will not have much to look forward to until the show ends. For those who relate to the humour and can laugh, if only out of disbelief that these jokes were made, a night of fun has only just begun as the monster is brought to life: A giant green monster who turns out a little differently to what the Doctor predicted.

The interval is cleverly placed for the audience to make guesses and predict what will happen to the monster and when the show continues people remain in high spirits. Seats are filled again and no one seems to have left during the interval, though more than a few people return with full wine-glasses. The show continues and everyone follows along with rapt attention. Laughs seem almost synchronised as the cast once more masterfully ensures that the audience reacts to each line and guarantee that Mel Brooks’s humour is understood and welcomed.

The show ends too soon for the liking of many in the theatre. The applause that meets the actors as the curtain rises is louder than any that night. The room seems divided at this point though as many people remain seated while applauding. Most however, stand to show the actors how much they enjoyed the performance.
